About vax64.dk

My name is Peter Lund and I am a programmer.

I have been programming since I was 13.  At first it was on paper using information from library books.  Then I got my ZX81.  And learned Z80 machine code.  Then I learned Pascal.  And 8086 machine code.  And C.  And Standard ML.  And some Haskell.  And some Python.  And ...

I had heard all sorts of bad things about the VAX architecture back in the 90's and 00's (during the waning years of the RISC revolution).  When I looked closer in 2005 I realized that I was actually rather neat and well-thought out.  It could probably even be made fast, contrary to what the Computer Architecture Bigwigs (who happened to be early RISC inventors/prophets) had written in their books!  On the other hand, they also said that the x86 couldn't be made fast...

I am in the process of writing a VAX emulator and some associated tools (assembler, disassembler).
